An experienced utility player who came to Bolton from Crystal Palace on loan in November and slotted into central defence. His commanding performances in his six games during his loan period won him many plaudits and the club secured his services on a permanent basis for £800,000. He began his career as a trainee at Manchester City but left for Oldham Athletic without making a league appearance. At Boundary Park he proved his versatility by playing in defence, midfield and as a forward. He played 84 first team games before a £750,000 move to Sheffield Wednesday in July 1997. He spent two years at Hillsborough playing 66 games, before he moved to Ewood Park for £2.7 million. While at Blackburn he won a Premiership winners medal and after injury problem he headed south to Crystal Palace for £1.2 million in July 1997. At Palace he played 40 games most of them in the Premiership before Palace had to sell him because of their financial problems. He then joined the Wanderers in January 199 and during his time at Bolton Warhurst has spent most of the time out of the team being injured or suspended. He hopes this season he will have more luck.
