Steve Banks

Banks joined from Blackpool on transfer deadline day 99' for a mere £50,000. Other clubs with interests in Banks included Celtic and Peter Schmeichel had reportedly recommended him to Alex Ferguson but Bolton needed a new keeper after Jaaskelainens poor form and bought him 3 months before Banks contract expired.
Banks went straight into the Bolton team to play Oxford at the Manor Ground and the result was 0-0. Banks looked very secure and continued in goal till the end of the season. At the start of the 1999/2000 season Banks was injured and only got a few games notably against Tranmere in the Worthington Cup, he looks likely to become Jaaskelainens understudy.
